Annual Steam Outage | May 2 - 9, 2026
Date - 27 April 2026
The campus-wide steam outage will begin on Saturday, May 2, and is expected to conclude by Saturday, May 9, 2026. During this period, steam will not be available on campus as the system will be de-energized. The annual outage is necessary to maintain and upgrade the utility system.
Building occupants should experience minimal impact as steam is not typically used for building heating at this time of year. Building cooling systems will continue to operate, though some areas may feel cooler than usual since steam won't be available to temper the cold air supply.
Research and science partners that use equipment such as autoclaves will be affected, as these devices rely on steam. If the autoclave has its own boiler, it will remain unaffected.
