Building Excellence: Shane Booker
February 16, 2026
Shane Booker joined the Florida State University community as a member of the Facilities Building Services team in August 2024. Though he’s relatively new to campus, Booker brings a strong work ethic and years of professional experience, demonstrated through his role at the Center for Academic Retention & Enhancement in the Thagard Building.
Before coming to FSU, Booker spent 18 years working in custodial services with The Quality Companies, where he built a reputation for reliability and consistency. He is a graduate of Cairo High School in Cairo, Georgia, and credits much of his dedication and professionalism to the values instilled in him early on. In his current role, Booker is responsible for maintaining restrooms, classrooms, floors, and public areas in Thagard, ensuring the spaces are clean, welcoming, and well cared for, for both students and faculty.
An average day for Booker starts early - he arrives at 5 a.m., giving him and his team time to prepare the building before it fills with activity. He describes his workdays as pleasant, positive, and productive, noting that faculty and staff are always kind, appreciative, and quick to say thank you. Booker values the supportive environment, his stress-free routine, and especially his supervisor, whom he describes as top-notch, respectful, and someone he feels truly privileged and blessed to work with.

Outside of work, Booker enjoys weightlifting, teaching others in the fitness space, and spending time with his family. He’s a proud father of two sons and stays close with his parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews. Booker credits his parents for shaping his strong work ethic - watching them work multiple jobs without complaint taught him to always do his best, stay honest, and take pride in his work. It’s a mindset he carries with him every day at FSU, where he feels appreciated, supported, and happy to be part of the Facilities team.
