Performs skilled plumbing and piping installation, maintenance, and repair across university facilities. Installs and repairs pipes, valves, faucets, sinks, sewers, vents, sanitary fixtures, gas and air piping, and related components. Maintains and services steam boilers, hot water systems, storage and return tanks, safety devices, and controls. Interprets blueprints and work instructions to complete repair orders safely and efficiently, operates university vehicles as required, and performs additional departmental duties.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for installation, repair and maintenance of piping and associated components.
- Installs, maintains and repairs piping valves, faucets, sinks, sewers, vents and other sanitary fixtures. Installs and maintains gas and air stream piping and associated fixtures.
- Checks, repairs and replaces steam boilers and safety devices and controls. Flushes and cleans boilers, storage and return tanks, hot water heaters, etc.
- Reads and follows blueprints and other verbal or written instructions in order to complete repair orders. Drives University vehicles as required. Responsible for other duties as assigned within the department.
