Facilities Communications Assistant

The Facilities Communications Assistant is a part-time member of the Facilities Communications team, which creates and shares engaging content about FSU Facilities services, projects, people, and campus spaces with the FSU community and external audiences. This position is a one-year, OPS appointment, beginning in Fall 2026 and continuing through Spring 2027. Applicants must be currently enrolled FSU students with an anticipated graduation date of Spring 2027 or later.
Responsibilities
- Meet weekly with the Facilities Communications Manager and Specialist to discuss projects, priorities, and support needs.
- Create graphic design materials in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and/or Canva for a variety of communications needs, including flyers, reports, social media content, digital signage, stickers, and other promotional materials.
- Assist with developing presentations using PowerPoint and Canva.
- Assist with organizing, maintaining, and archiving communications assets, including photographs and department-specific content.
- Support the creation of written content for social media, web articles, and other communications channels.
- Maintain an organized workflow by tracking project priorities, communicating progress, and managing a prioritized task list with Communications Manager and Specialist.
- Provide communications support to a variety of FSU Facilities departments, including Maintenance, Facilities Services, Grounds, Environmental Health & Safety, Sustainability, Building Code & Fire Safety, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Finance.
- Communicate openly with supervisors, incorporate feedback into creative projects, and deliver deliverables.
- Work in person within a shared office environment and maintain consistent on-campus availability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Interest in graphic design, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
