Custodial Services

Custodians maintain clean and sanitary conditions of all the university’s facilities and buildings to foster a safe and pleasant learning environment.

Environmental Health and Safety

Inspectors, technicians, safety officers, and risk management professionals ensure compliance with regulations, procedures, and standards to promote a safe and healthy environment in classrooms, laboratories, and work sites.

Laser Safety Officer

Administers and oversees the university's laser safety program by developing policies, conducting hazard assessments, performing facility inspections, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and industry safety standards. Serves as the Certified Laser Safety Officer, providing training, investigating incidents, maintaining laser inventories and records, and managing laser decommissioning activities

Facilities Services

Operations are responsible for ensuring that facilities and essential services on campus function properly daily.

Grounds and Landscaping Operations

Groundskeepers, arborists, horticulturists, equipment operators, and landscape design professionals maintain and enhance an attractive natural environment on campus.

Maintenance

Various trades technicians provide maintenance, repair, and construction services for buildings and building systems on campus.

Electrician (Levels 1-2)

Performs installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment, including motors, pumps, generators, heaters, wiring, conduit, fixtures, circuit breakers, and transformers. Diagnoses electrical failures, locates power outages and short circuits, and supports building renovation and system upgrades by interpreting blueprints and work orders.

Master Craftsman Studio

Designers, sculptors, and artisans dedicated to fabrication and art installations that reflect the heritage and culture of the university and public commissions.

Planning, Design and Construction

Architects, planners, engineers, construction managers, and other design professionals provide successful development and continuous improvement of campus facilities.

Project Manager (Levels I – III) (Multiple Vacancies)

Manages the design and construction of capital improvement projects, ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal standards while maintaining schedule, budget, and defined project scope. Coordinates project planning, communication, and collaboration with stakeholders, design professionals, consultants, contractors, and vendors.

Support & Administrative Services

Support & Administrative Services provide integral support services, including information technology, human resources, and financial services. These services ensure efficiency across the department and enable us to provide optimum service to the university.

Facilities Communications Assistant

The Facilities Communications Assistant is a part-time member of the Facilities Communications team, which creates and shares engaging content about FSU Facilities services, projects, people, and campus spaces with the FSU community and external audiences. This position is a one-year, OPS appointment, beginning in Fall 2026 and continuing through Spring 2027. Applicants must be currently enrolled FSU students with an anticipated graduation date of Spring 2027 or later.

Sustainability

Educate and engage the campus community to develop a culture of environmental care through climate action, waste minimization, and resource stewardship.

Utilities & Engineering Services

Engineers and technicians control and manage utility services across campus, including steam, chilled water, electricity, domestic water, sanitary sewer, and natural gas.

Waste Management

Manage recycling and waste disposal throughout campus.
