Custodians maintain clean and sanitary conditions of all the university’s facilities and buildings to foster a safe and pleasant learning environment.

Quality Control Coordinator

Responsible for assisting and recommending the development of policies and procedures to effectively administer a Building Services Quality Control Program. Reviews Building Services Frequencies and Procedures to ensure each room type is assigned the appropriate level of custodial care. Collaborates with Assistant Director to address needs of each area and that cleaning schedules are provided to the University campus with proper timelines. Develops checklists for field surveys and administers reviews of reports, studies, specifications, and surveys to make recommendations related to program improvements, project assignments, inspection results, and employee performance to the Assistant Director. Plays key role in long- and short-term planning for the department.

Groundskeeper

Performs routine groundskeeping and landscaping maintenance across assigned Florida State University properties to maintain a safe, clean, sustainable, and attractive campus environment. Performs mowing, edging, raking, mulching, blowing, weed control, pruning, watering, debris and trash removal, and spreading of landscape materials such as pine straw, bark, and rocks. Assists with planting trees and shrubs, turf maintenance, soil preparation, turf removal, and resodding.

This position is responsible for the routine care and aesthetic upkeep of University grounds within designated zones. Performs advanced troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and maintenance of complex building automation and mechanical systems, including HVAC controls, variable speed drives, boilers, chillers, lab controls, and communication networks such as BACNet and ModBus.
