Occupational Safety & Health Engineer

The Industrial Safety & Health Engineer is a new position within the EHS team that was created to provide hands-on support within the Facilities Maintenance organization. This role is focused on identifying and evaluating safety and health hazards, preventing workplace-related injuries and illnesses, responding to EHS concerns, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Through this work, the role strengthens FSU’s risk posture and helps ensure a safe, healthy campus environment that advances the university’s mission as it continues to grow.

Elevator Shop Manager

Serves as the university’s subject matter expert and program leader for vertical and horizontal transportation systems, ensuring campus elevators comply with Florida statutes, regulations, and safety requirements. Oversees the campus-wide elevator maintenance program, including preventive maintenance, inspections, permits, shutdowns, repairs, emergency response, entrapments, and return-to-service approvals.

Carpenter 3

Performs campus-wide carpentry and flooring maintenance, including repairing/installing tiles, carpet, cabinets, furniture, doors, and hardware. Assists other trades as needed, performs minor plaster and drywall work, maintains tools and equipment, documents work, and supervises helpers when required.

Construction Technician, Facilities Maintenance Department

Performs skilled construction, maintenance, repair, and demolition work across campus, including concrete finishing, form setting, carpentry, fencing, street and parking lot repairs, painting, striping, grading, and related building projects. Operates and performs routine maintenance on heavy equipment such as backhoes, trenchers, front-end loaders, skid steers, and mini excavators.

Painter 1

Performs a broad range of campus-wide painting, surface preparation, and general maintenance duties. Prepares, repairs, and refinishes interior and exterior surfaces using plastering, caulking, spackling, sanding, paint removal, waterproofing, epoxy coatings, and various painting methods. Maintains and repairs painting equipment, manages supplies, and performs related finish work including furniture refinishing, window and door glazing, cover base, ceramic and VCT tile replacement.

Maintains equipment such as pumps, motors, valves, compressed air systems, control devices, electrical components, and plumbing fixtures while diagnosing and resolving operational issues.
